I made my first greeting cards cartoons for a small Roman publishing house in the late 90s, although for years I drew humorous greeting cards for the birthdays of my family and for my relatives at Christmas.
The greeting cards’ industry has always fascinated me. A funny cartoon is ideal to represent a birthday, the birth of a child, a religious holiday, but also more “serious” occasions like a wedding, a Valentine’s Day, a graduation.
Custom Made Greeting Cards
I draw humorous cartoons for customized postcards and greeting cards in any format and for every occasion and event. I create greeting cards for publishing houses (to whom I send high resolution files via email) and privates (who will receive a jpg to upload online to digital printing platforms).

Flat cards are more frequent for Christmas, Easter or even for anniversaries, they can be extended to any other occasion. The format is a postcard, developed horizontally or vertically, and has a single humorous cartoon.

Classic wedding small greeting cards for birth, baptism, eucharist, confirmation and wedding. They are foldable mini cards. Size is 9×2,5 cm open (3.5×1 in) and 4,5×2.5 cm closed. For these cards there is usually only one cartoon for the cover.

The Greeting Cards Cartoons Process
Idea and Sketch
Folded greeting cards are more complex than others. In this case I have to think about an opening joke for the cover and the final one for the cartoon inside.
After client’s approval of the drafts, I proceed to define the pencil drawing and ink the cartoons. I often create the background directly in computer graphics.
I scan cartoons at high resolution (300 dpi), then I insert the cartoons in the greeting card template before coloring them, and finally I add background and texts.
